Melba Menke        Nauru Congregational Church

I am Melba Menke from the Republic of Nauru.
I am here representing the Nauru Congregational Church (NCC).
I have been working in schools for almost a decade now. I love working with children.
Seeing how they grow into responsible adults gives me joy.
I look forward to engaging in the conference and collaborating with you all.

Melba will be sharing with us about the issues of schooling in the tiny island-nation of Nauru.
She brings a unique Pasifika perspective.

Last year, Melba attended the Pacific Australian Emerging Leaders’ summit (PAELS), in Canberra. Attending as a youth member she was selected through the Regional Ecumenical Youth Council (REYC), under the Pacific Conference of Churches (PCC). Melba is a School Principal and serves as the assistant treasurer of NCC and secretary for REYC. The summit’s framework for a shared future identified three key issues that stand in the way of flourishing Pacific: rising social harm; ecological destruction; and challenges to sovereignty.
