My name is Elke Keeling. I grew up in South Africa. In 1994 my family and I moved to New Zealand. I have two grown children and two grandchildren.
I was a Children’s Pastor over a period of 20 years. I studied at Carey Baptist College for an Applied Theology degree and did further post graduate study with a focus on Children’s Spirituality and Spiritual Formation. My research focus was on childrens’ spirituality and how to nurture it. During this time I also led a team to encourage Children’s Ministry training and development in New Zealand Baptist Churches, with roles of national leadership, mentorship and training.
I was part of a team that brought Godly Play to New Zealand in 2015 and am a certified Godly Play trainer. I continue to mentor and support groups using this method of Christian Formation.
My passion has always been recognising the tremendous potential of children to make spiritual meaning in their lives if given the opportunity and safe space to do this. Children are WONDERFUL.
